Benevolent Organisation for Development Health & Insight (BODHI)
Founding patron His Holiness XIV Dalai Lama.
A bridge between people, a forum for you
BODHI was founded in 1989 and is based in both the United States and Australia, with supporters worldwide.
Realising the interdependence of all beings is in our enlightened self-interest. If we don’t work together to reduce the world’s much-discussed problems, then who will?
BODHI provides a framework for altruistic people who are not comfortable working in traditional religious or secular organisations. No religious affiliation is necessary to work with BODHI. We ask only for a kind heart.

What makes BODHI different from other aid organisations?
• Our willingness to take chances on projects and people
• Our emphasis on the sustainability of all projects, both
ecologically and socially
• That people affected participate in identifying problems and
their resolutions
• BODHI’s small and personal nature
• That all work done for BODHI is voluntary
• The multi-faith orientation of many of the directors and
advisers (Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, atheist and we hope,
in time, other). Again, we stress that no religious affiliation is necessary to work with BODHI; and
• We are a uniquely structured international organisation.
Autonomous organisations have been formed in the US
and Australia, with donors worldwide.
