A: Scheherazade-like stories from their three beloved stuffed animals.

Two stuffed bears and a stuffed dog must enable their human mistress to endure a year’s separation from her husband of five and three-quarters years..

Meet the dog: Prior to becoming an esteemed canine psychoanalyst (dykoanalyst) and starting a clinic for dogs such as Lassie and Rin Tin Tin -- who jump through the mirror at the top of the stairs into our reality -- Bluey Bligmund discovers his wolf roots on a hideously expensive weekend in the Scottish Highlands. One of the participants is Icecap Mal, the Alaskan malamute [what a coincidence!].

And the bears: In his battle against autism, Mikey Kerowack channels Jack Kerouac and goes On the Road in the Lower 49, observing life roll by backward from a hole in his packing box in a moving van.

Sturgess Ursule takes time from searching for an Internet bride and worrying about his reascended testicles (they were so horrified at what he fathered that they promptly went right back up inside again) to go undercoevr and expose bear poaching in China, wrapped in his invisible cloak of ten thousand hand-sewn sequins.

Then there’s the Wild West Reunion at the end of the year, an odyssey worthy of Jack Kerouac, Jean Cocteau and EarthFirst!

And so The AFTBACK Chronicles are born.
